Shelley is a first year assistant coach for UVM Crew. She is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and rowed with West Point Army Crew while attending. From 2004-2007 she returned to West Point as an instructor and coached for West Point Crew during her tenure. She has experience coaching Women’s Novice, Men’s Novice and Head Coach of the Men’s Varsity crews. Off the water, Shelley is a career Army Officer currently serving with the Vermont National Guard as the Inspector General.
This is her first year working with UVM Crew. She is a part-time coach, working with the team 3-4 times a week. She graduated from and rowed at both The Lawernceville School in Lawrenceville, NJ and at Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. She rows a single scull as well as has a long history with sweep rowing. She trains and competes at CRASHB's (World Indoor Rowing Competition) annually in Boston, MA. Off the water, she is a Senior Strategist and Designer at Select Design in Burlington's South End. Originally from NJ, she and her husband moved to Vermont almost 5 years ago with their dog.
Ian is the head coach of UVM Crew. He oversees all the programs. He is a UVM Graduate and UVM Crew Alumni, began coaching in 2010, while attending Graduate School. After two years helping with the Novice Men, he took over as Men’s Head Coach and took over the program this past fall. In addition to coaching UVM Crew, he is a Doctoral Candidate in Civil Engineering at UVM.
